Our view from space is that probably there is a point on the Earth closest to your position in space. Probably there is Earth near this point in every direction until the curve of the Earth allows you to see only half of the surface. It is consistant with quantum theory that you can only observe half of the Earth at a time. However. you cannot know where the rest of the planet is exactly, only probably. If you get too close to it there is a probability that you are actually getting in front of the moving part of the wave even though it may not be visible to you. Then the Earth begins to accelerate towards you!
