Metamorphosis

Raven must search for a land for a new beginning. He sets out with Butterfly as companion and escort. Acting as scout, Butterfly would ascend high above the earth's surface looking for good land which he would point out with his uncurled proboscis. He tells Raven that choosing a gwaii where bears live will be a sign of plentiful salmon and berries. The wondrous place they found became Haida Gwaii.

Butterfly's spiritual metamorphosis within the cycle of life begins by landing on a salmonberry flower.
