Spirit of North Beach
North Beach sweeps east from Tow Hill to Naikoon, the long spit of sand and gravel open to the ferocity of Hecate Strait and Dixon Entrance, where Raven released the first men from a cockle shell that lay upon the beach. The drifting and feathery mist imbues the length of this beachscape with such mystique that it conjures the magic that gives body to myth.
The mighty war canoe was mere recollection when craftsmanship shaped each plank to perfect line, creating a vessel that could withstand wind and wave’s torment. Gentle light though the mist illuminates the wooden fishing boat’s elegance, even as it lays half buried in the sand, succumbing to the ocean’s tides. What was once new is becoming the past and the past a reflection.
Raven and Eagle Spirits’ hover, whisper and reflect on evolution, revolution, and cycles that circle around to the beginning again.
