View from T'aanuu

The sea grass rustles, whispering its name, T’aanuu in the wind. It has lent its name to the island and the village which ‘Those Born at Skedans’ called home. A rocky projection on the shore allows the ancient Haida village to face in two directions, with shoals and kelp giving protection for the landing of canoes on the beaches of fine pebbles.

The persistently invasive rainforest provides shade for the profusion of moss that now blankets the once open village site. Throwing a glance like a 'skipping' stone to the northeast through a frame of trees and overhanging branches... past a corner post of an ancient longhouse... over fallen beams... across the beach to spin into this view from T’aanuu... ones eyes skim across Klue Passage, with Titul Island on the left and Kunga Island on the right... then skip across the saltwater of Laskeek Bay to find Lost Islands in the distance.
